So the Manu Chao concert on friday was amazing!!!! First I (Sara) had a doctors appointment at four and Jonathan thought we were going to be late for the show but we weren't. In fact we were incredibly early. We were among the first 20 to enter. I got merch and Jonathan got us amazing seats. The opening band was Kinky. They're from Mexico. But very americanized. Then Manu Chao and his Radio Bemba band came out and we were very dissapointed to find out that they didn't bring their trumpet and trombone players with them. they also didn't bring the black guy with the reggea sounding voice either. dang. So the entire concert Jonathan and I were dancing. so much by the end of it our feet felt like they were going to fall off. I swear out of the whole place Jonathan and I must have been dancing the most. Manu Chao had like 5 encors. He also made up for the missing trumpet and trombone players at the end by bringing back one of the main people from his old band Mano Negra. History of Manu Chao: Manu Chao back in 1986 was in three or four different bands. He decided to put all these bands together to form one band called Mano Negra (1987). A french Ska/punk band. Then they broke up in 1993 or 1994. Manu Chao dissapeared from the french music scene for a while and explored the music all over south and central America. Then He came out with another band called Radio Bemba. Manu Chao sings in French, spanish, italian, english, and arabic I think. So the last encore he had he asked the audiance "Do you want more?" and everyone screamed and he walked off stage and the lights were dimmed a little and all of a sudden I see this guy from Mano Negra walk out and apparently no one knew who he was....but I did. When I saw him I screamed bloody murder. people looked at me as if i was getting killed. Then I pointed to the stage and yelled "Mano Negra!!!" I turned to Jonathan and he realized what I just pointed out and his expression was "oh shit!" and right away i knew exactly what song that guy was going to sing. and he did. Strictly a Mano Negra song... Hidi S' Bibi. I think Jonathan and i were the only ones in our area who knew the song because we were hecka singing along and dancing our asses off!! and everyone else was looking at us like we're crazy and just checking out the song. pffft. Dang, bringing that guy back to play felt like ressurecting someone from the dead. Because no one from Mano Negra has gotten back together since they broke up. A least one from different bands that formed after they broke up. but yeah.... It was Epic!!Next stop, Death Cab For Cutie. Current Mood: good Current Music: Red Hot Chili Peppers
